JustWatchJustWatch is a streaming guide for movies, TV shows & sports. Users can easily browse through your their favourite movies or tv shows to see if they are available for streaming at any of their favourite video services, get personalised recommendations, and combine all their watchlist in one platform.
Together, we laid the groundwork for future innovations, setting the stage for JustWatch to continue its trajectory as a trailblazer in the digital entertainment landscape.
Creating order
I was asked to join the company to help them with the creation of a design system that could bring some order and support the rewriting of their mobile app. My primary objective was to spearhead the development of a comprehensive design system, a blueprint that not only instilled coherence but also propelled innovation across their platform.
Creating componentsTo lay the groundwork for JustWatch's digital transformation, I embarked on a journey of analyzing the existing app interface and user interactions. This comprehensive analysis served as the cornerstone for crafting a robust design system tailored to JustWatch's unique needs. Leveraging insights gleaned from user research and industry best practices, I curated a library of reusable components that formed the backbone of the system. Here an example of the card component, with all the different variants needed for the app.

Documenting componentsAs the components found their place in the app's ecosystem, I spearheaded the creation of extensive documentation, empowering stakeholders and developers alike to harness the full potential of the design system.

Leveraging the insights gleaned from the newly implemented design system, I delved into the intricacies of navigation, particularly on web and mobile platforms. By conducting in-depth usability analyses and user testing sessions, I identified pain points and opportunities for improvement within the app's navigation flow.
Drawing upon these insights, I spearheaded the development of innovative solutions aimed at streamlining the user journey. One such solution involved the integration of personalized recommendation algorithms, tailored to individual user preferences and viewing habits. This not only enhanced content discovery but also fostered a more personalized and engaging experience for users.
Additionally, I focused on optimizing the aggregation of watchlists, ensuring a seamless and intuitive process for users to compile and manage their favorite content across multiple streaming services. Through iterative design iterations and rigorous testing, I refined the watchlist functionality, empowering users to curate their entertainment preferences effortlessly.
